影片最开始便是禁酒令解除的那个夜晚，躺在鸦片馆中的Noodles，一间无名的办公室，办公桌上的一只电话响了，桌上的身份牌上写着：哈洛兰警长，Noodles拿起一张报纸，上面写着3名私酒贩子被杀，他放下报纸，绝望躺下。继而，电话铃声变为了一声尖啸，鸦片馆中的Noodles疯狂惊惧地翻身坐起。这一部分没看懂。 在鸦片馆伙计的帮助下，Noodles成功从鸦片馆逃离，回到Fat Moe的酒吧。 Do you need anything? Money? I got more than I need. Yeah, it's all yours now. Fat Moe问他需要什么，是钱吗？Noodles说我只要我该得的那一部分。 Where to? Sir, where do you want to go? Anywhere. First bus. Buffalo?
